Edge Protection
Balustrading / Handrailing
All exposed edges of a mezzanine floor must have edge protection to prevent personnel falling from height. This is typically achieved by fitting a steel handrail system to the edge of the mezzanine platform, and bolting it directly to the mezzanine steel structure.
Handrail posts would be fitted at 1500mm centres and tubular steel hand and knee rails attached to these posts. A 150mm high toeboard is fitted also, to prevent items being accidentally kicked off the mezzanine floor.
Our edge protection handrailing systems for mezzanine floors are designed to safely withstand a minimum imposed horizontal load of 0.74kN/m as stated in Part K of the current Building Regulations.
We can offer a variety of different forms of railing system to suit your need and your space, so please contact us for more details.
